Hayride is the first single from Mattie’s second EP about his experience at Penn State University.
The song is inspired by a fall tradition; the Hayride. where A few teams would bundle up, pile on a bus and head off campus to a farm in the middle of State College, PA. The tractor would wind through dormant corn fields and drop everyone off at a bonfire with kegs and bbq. It was a highlight of Mattie's college experience. Partying under the Pennsylvania stars in the cold autumn air. Hayride is a romantic folk tune that makes you feel like you're falling in love right there outside Penn state. Slide guitar. Gentle harmonies. Vivid lyrics.

Taking Our Time Growing Up

Taking Our Time Growing Up is the dose of collegiate nostalgia you need to hear right now. A joyous piano rocker with a stadium sized chorus, it’s a love letter to Mattie Leon’s 4 years at Penn State University. Self produced in Hamilton, Ontario featureing bandmates Mike Leon & Nelson Sobral
Before dedicating his life to songwriting and performing, Mattie Leon was an accomplished golfer. National teams. Provincial teams. He ended up accepting a scholarship to play golf at Penn State University.
The years flew by and after graduating he put the clubs down for a guitar and a stage.
Now, far removed from that exhilarating American College experience, he’s used his songwriting talents to put the whole thing into perspective.
