What happens when one of Canada’s great rock guitarists joins forces with a contemplative singer/songwriter? Dreaming On Your Feet. In the fall of 2022 Canadian singer/songwriter Mattie Leon met up with The Trews’ John-Angus MacDonald to try and write some songs together. A handful of gems came from those sessions and the first one to see the light of day is Dreaming On Your Feet. It's an addictive acoustic rocker about dancing with that person you love. It sounds like The Beatles in 1965 if George Martin couldn't make the session and they gave the producer keys to Mark Ronson in 2024.
Some songs just feel like a place...an outdoor wedding. A barn party. String lights. A crackling bonfire nearby. A sky full of shining stars and mist hanging off the pines. Dreaming On Your Feet feels like one of the best nights of your life.
Produced by John-Angus MacDonald in Hamilton, Ontario the song features Mattie on vocals and bass, Mike Leon on Drums, and John-Angus on guitar. It's a jubilant acoustic rocker that will be a live favourite for years to come.

GAINESVILLE
Gainesville is a classic folk duet about missing someone back home. For years Mattie’s older brother lived in Gainesville with his family and would make the long trip up to Canada whenever he could. This song paints the picture of what those long trips north were like. The windmills, the dirt roads, the Peace Bridge. It’s all in there.
Written with his niece, Cameron Leon, this song is pure Nashville gold; beautiful harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, slide guitar, finger picking acoustic, and a pulsing rhythm section.
Produced by Mattie in Brampton and Hamilton, Ontario, the song not only features his bandmates Mike Leon and Nelson Sobral but also the angelic voice of his niece, Cameron Leon.

COVER BAND
After working with some of Canada's top producers; Gavin Brown and Mark Howard, Mattie Leon has taken back creative control for the first time since his self produced EP, Signal Hill (which grabbed him a nomination at the Canadian Folk Music Awards).
The result is, Cover Band, 3 and a half rocking minutes of early 70’s singer/songwriter heaven (think Paul Simon or Paul McCartney's Wings). Recorded in Hamilton and featuring his longtime band; brother Mike Leon on drums and Nelson Sobral on bass, the song points out that the musical landscape in Canada has gotten cover band-heavy these days. Do you have to play other people's songs to be successful now?
